Sadly, I don’t have plans to travel to Italy this year, so I’ll have to live vicariously through my favorite Italian influencers. Women such as Amina Muaddi, Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert, Anna Dello Russo, Gilda Ambrosio, Chiara Ferragni, and others all have style in spades, so it’s not hard to be immediately inspired every time I see a new outfit of theirs.

I noticed several recurring themes while sifting through street-style photos of the chicest Italians. First, they love a miniskirt. Chalk it up to the Miu Miu effect, but women in Italy are all about showing leg this summer. (If you’re not on board, may I direct you to Kaia Gerber’s full-skirted midi instead?) Keep scrolling to see and shop all five of the trends I noticed.

It seems like the Italian fashion set gravitates toward miniskirts right now—thanks, Miuccia Prada! I’m quite partial to skorts, which come with built-in shorts underneath, and make the trend much easier to pull off.

Pantsuits often get a bad rap because they can be too stuffy and corporate. But leave it to the Italians to spice things up. Dello Russo and Amina Muaddi are both fans of wearing statement suits with nothing but bras underneath.

Nothing screams summer like a flowy white blouse. I particularly love Ferragni’s Dior version, which she tucked into her A-line midi skirt. It’s sheer perfection.

Socks with heels is another trend that Prada and Miu Miu have spearheaded, and now it’s everywhere. Battaglia Engelbert and Pelizza offer two excellent outfit ideas if you’re ready to test-drive the cool combo.

Last but not least, I noticed lots of baggy trousers and jeans when researching this story. Italy is far from the only place you’ll see this trend, as it’s been cropping up worldwide in 2023. That’s all the more reason to invest in a pair for yourself.
