India has exempted cotton imports from customs duty and cess from June 1 to October 31, 2026, to ease pressure on the textile sector amid high cotton prices.
Industry bodies including CITI and SIMA welcomed the move, saying it will improve export competitiveness, address supply shortages, and support the industry during a period of global uncertainty.
