Just as boot trends are always a hot topic in the fall, the springtime equivalent is sandal trends. After months of cold weather and having to hide our feet away in boots and sneakers because of it, I always look forward to spring shoe trends and all of the breezy dresses and shorts I’ll wear with them. So let’s talk about the latest one that’s caught my attention: fisherman sandals.
It’s still technically winter, so I’ve yet to see many sandals out and about and on Instagram, but based on what I’m seeing in the market, I’d put money on fisherman sandals being the #1 sandal trend of spring and summer. My main reason for believing this is that several trendsetting designer brands (such as Prada, Gucci, and The Row) have recently released their own trendy takes on the classic shoe style, and they started to bubble up last summer.
In case you need a little refresh, fisherman sandals are a cage-style flat sandal that buckles at the ankle. It’s a comfortable, functional style that’s been around for decades, and it’s been reinvented many times in both leather and as “jellies”.
