In honour of Pride Month 2020, Netflix is hosting a digital event “for reflection and celebration” next week. Streaming live on June 30 at 7pm EST/4pm PST, the virtual party will celebrate queer artists and performers, and feature dialogue and moments of reflection that inspire change and action.
Viewers can expect to see some of the world’s most celebrated faces and LGBTQ+ champions, including FASHION cover star Antoni Porowski (along with the rest of the Fab Five), Canadian comedian Mae Martin, Laverne Cox, Janet Mock, Hannah Gadsby, Jerry Harris, Wilson Cruz, Tituss Burgess, Sasha Velour and Dolly Parton. To top it off, the virtual party will feature a closing performance from Chaka Khan.
“Paired with a very necessary spotlight on the Black Lives Matter Movement and a much-needed focus on Black Trans Lives Matter, this year comes with more reflection, education and a call-to-action,” Porowski wrote in an Instagram post reflecting on Pride 2020.
The digital event will also be raising funds for LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations OutRight, Trans Justice Funding Project and the Marsha P Johnson Foundation. Netflix Pride will be broadcast simultaneously through Netflix’s YouTube channel, plus The Most’s IGTV and TikTok.
