We’re right about to approach that magical time of year when the final remnants of last season are deeply discounted and quickly selling out, all to make room for the mother-load: new spring arrivals . For six long months, ever since the fashion community first laid eyes on the spring/summer 2023 collections , we’ve been champing at the bit to start shopping not just the actual pieces included in them, but the trends they created too. And at last, the wait is over.
Over the next few weeks, the spring runway collections will arrive, drop by drop, into our favorite retailers, as will more affordable takes on the coinciding trends , making now the perfect time to start planning what all you’re going to invest in and what’s better to wait until those aforementioned end-of-season sales for. To help kick off your search, I looked at practically every new item on the market right now and lined up 45 of my very best finds below.
This shade of red has absolutely dominated the runways and street-style scene this fashion month, with show sightings including David Koma, Tory Burch, Bottega Veneta, and a casual couple of handfuls more. As such, I’ve done my fair share of red-market stalking to the point that I have probably seen every red item available this season, and of all the pieces I’ve seen, this Tibi top is one of my most favorites. Prepare to see its competition as you scroll through the list ahead.
As odd as it sounds, totes that look a bit like trash bags are experiencing a wild rise in popularity recently. And while most we’ve seen have been on the pricier side of the spectrum, this Charles & Keith black-and-gold take is surprisingly affordable.
More than any other clothing item, a pair of really good jeans truly is timeless. Whereas most pieces in our wardrobes need to be stored away at some point in the year due to the changing seasons, jeans can be worn 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. And I think I just found the perfect everyday pair.
With spring on the way, so too is the arrival of tube-top season, and this textured, magenta take on the silhouette is first on my wishlist.
Though my love for Daniel Lee’s Puddle Boots and pillow-y sandals for Bottega Veneta remains strong, Matthieu Blazy’s artful footwear is beyond comparison. From these sculptural mules to his Punta wedges with an almost jewelry-like slingback accessory, the brand’s new creative director has me and every fashion editor I know absolutely smitten.
Turtlenecks and spring don’t exactly go hand in hand, but this sleeveless mockneck is a perfect alternative for someone who is obsessed with both unexpected layering techniques and low-key, ’90s fashion. For the former, try it under a striped, poplin button-down shirt with trousers, and for the latter, styled with a low-rise pencil skirt (Miu Miu’s spring collection has plenty).
Thanks to Saint Laurent lining the wrists of its spring/summer 2023 runway models with chunky wrist cuffs, the retro jewelry style has been all anyone’s talked about for months.
One scroll through fashion Pinterest will prove to any non-believers that Chanel’s black-and-white bikinis from the ’90s were absolutely and irrevocably iconic. So, of course, when anything remotely similar comes along, especially one as affordable as this triangle bikini from H&M, you shouldn’t hesitate to buy it. Shop the matching Bikini Bottoms ($13).
No one I attended the Tory Burch spring/summer 2023 runway show with has shut up about it since—myself included. From the layered miniskirts with leggings to the bold accessories, its debut marked a new day for the brand that has the entire fashion community on their toes and digging in their new Tory Burch purses for their wallets.
Is it just me, or does this brand-new Khaite dress feel like the perfect mix of Brittany Murphy’s character in Uptown Girls and Kate Moss in the late ’90s? I don’t know about y’all, but I’m 1000% here for it.
If the spring runways taught us anything about styling, it would have to be the power of a metallic accessory, be it a bag, a belt, or a pair of strappy sandals just like these ones. Basically, just by trading in your black sandals for silver ones, your outfit has the potential to go from a 6 (6.5 if the remaining pieces are really good) to an absolute 10 with no other adjustments.
If I only looked at Instagram for outfit inspiration, all I’d wear ever would be jeans and a matching denim shirt or jacket. Apparently, Canadian tuxedos are back, and my take on the trend starts with this $100 shacket from Gap.
The rate at which oversized and oblong studs replaced the gold, chunky hoops we’ve been loyal to for years is a phenomenon for the record books. From the runways to Instagram to our very own office—everyone who’s anyone is wearing oddly shaped studs RN.
Reformation has been the talk of our office ever since they started dropping spring pieces worthy of a certificate of excellence. And while there are winners in really every department of the brand’s website, the tops are by far the most alluring. I mean look at this two-tone, layered tank—it’s perfect.
If you’ve already figured out the power of a metallic accessory, here’s another fashion-favorite micro-trend with the power to turn up any outfit’s star potential: red tights. Wear them with baggy jeans and ballet flats, a black dress and heels, or a denim maxi skirt and a cardigan. If you’re really daring, go full-on monochrome with a red micro minidress.
The first Ferragamo collection since Maximilian Davis took over at the helm is just now hitting stores and if my predictions are true, stock won’t last long. The hype for his reign at the Italian house is sky high and deservedly so—the man’s a genius.
Fringe-y details are all the rage RN, which is why I’m getting my hands on this pareo skirt from Zara ASAP so that I can get to work figuring out how to incorporate the trend into my regular outfit rotation. I love this piece in particular because of its styling potential. Tip: don’t just wear it as a beach coverup. Layer it over dresses, with pants, or solo. See? The options really are endless.
I’ve been a fan of Tae Park for quite some time now, but now that it’s officially being sold on Moda Operandi, it’s time for the rest of the world to fall head over heels for the brand too.
Sure, 501s and the Ribcage are great, worthwhile choices, but if you want a pair of Levi’s that feels less classic and more of-the-moment, the denim brand’s new XL Balloon jeans are the ones you should be spending your money on this spring.
H&M’s spring arrivals are going to be extremely hard to beat. The whole drop feels very resort-y and casually sexy, with one of the best of the bunch being this $35 strapless top that shows off just the perfect sliver of cleavage. Basically, if you have a vacation planned in the coming weeks, head to H&M right now to buy your trip wardrobe before everything’s sold out.
Snakeskin is no easy print to pull off, but if I was going to blindly trust any brand to make it appear nonchalant and undeniably chic, it’d be Khaite. With belts making a big comeback this season and silver hardware finding itself attached to every It item of the season, this piece is one investment that’s 100% worth making.
Miu Miu’s low-rise pencil skirts have lived rent free in my brain ever since the brand debuted them in its spring/summer 2023 collection. Personally, I’ll be styling them with visible panties and either one or two belts, but there’s really no one good way to wear them.
Thanks to Toteme, embroidered stitching is everywhere at the moment, not that I’m mad about it. The subtle detail immediately adds at least one zero to the end of any item’s worth.
Even more impactful than the zebra print on this top is the skinny scarf attached to it. More and more, brands are incorporating neck accessories into their ready-to-wear, starting with outerwear for winter and now moving onto blouses and dresses for spring.
Open Edit’s footwear is one of our editorial team’s biggest style secrets as the prices are outrageously affordable in a way that you’d never expect given the quality. This toe-loop sandal is the Nordstrom brand’s latest inclusion to their shoe line and I’m guessing it’s already in a few of our editors’ shopping carts.
As someone who’s already tested out Bottega Veneta’s brand-new Andiamo tote, I can tell you with absolute certainty that it’s worth the quite high price tag. From the quality of the leather and the practicality of its size and shape to the luxe nature of the gold hardware, everything about it screams, “Buy me!”
If you’re on TikTok as often as I am, then you’ve probably seen your fair share of videos talking about this Skims top or its bodysuit alternative. The Contour Lift top is like a pushup bra and a sculpting tank top all in one. Plus, it doesn’t have to be worn under anything. Style it with jeans, trousers, or a skirt—the world is your oyster. Just remember to size down if you want a super snug, sculpted fit.
If you’ve also been fangirling over Bottega Veneta’s leather outerwear from the brand’s spring collection, this COS set is going to make your day—no, your entire season. It doesn’t hurt that peacoats are huge right now, further making it acceptable to drop a good chunk of change on this set, which can be interchanged in about a thousand different ways, all of which are chic. Shop the matching Tailored Flared Leather Pants ($450).
Balletcore continues to rage on, and if you, like me, aren’t big on the pink thing, this black-and-white tube top and bolero set is calling your name. For a disconnected but still on-trend take, wear the bolero sleeves with a red tube top and jeans. Trust me, it’ll garner a bevy of compliments.
As much as studs are trending at the moment, I’ll never fully be ready to give up my beloved hoops. Luckily, the tried-and-true bauble style has also gotten a bit of a refresh for spring, with interesting shapes like these silver triple hoops from Anthropologie popping up all over the 2023 jewelry scene.
Fast forward to the fall/winter 2023 shows that are happening as we speak and you’ll spot a handful of hoodies lining the runways, worn in new, innovative ways that will surely influence our sweatshirt styling for years to come. This cozy knit from High Sport is a great way to get in on the action early whilst also ticking off the red trend we currently can’t escape (not that we’d want to if we could).
The first thing I did when I saw these sculptural, orange slingbacks on Reformation.com was drop the link in our trends and market Slack group so that every person I work with could get their hands on a pair in either this color or the others offered (black and white) before they sell out.
If metallic accessories shown on the runways for spring, metallic pants were the stars of the runways for fall, with sightings at both Proenza Schouler and Gabriela Hearst. But don’t wait until September to start building a collection of shiny gold and silver bottoms. This Gap pair is available in both colors for under-$100 right this second.
Following Tory Burch’s recent runway show, I ran (like legit sprinted) home to buy a pair of fishnet tights to be worn under dresses, jeans, skirts, and so much more. Though it was technically a fall collection item, the great thing about fishnets is that there’s always a new pair entering the market meaning you never have to wait to buy and therefore style a pair.
Structured bags have seen their fair share of the limelight. Unfortunately for them, though, this isn’t one of those seasons where they’ll spend much time in it. Instead, spring is all about unstructured, slouchy shoulder bags and totes that mold and distort to fit all your must-have belongings.
Though velvet’s often been regarded as a winter, or more specifically holiday, clothing item, I for one am not ready to give up on the luxurious texture now that the first signs of spring are starting to take shape. After all, who would want to cover up a top as gorgeous as this one with a coat when you could wear it all on its own?
If I already convinced you to give snakeskin another chance with the Khaite belt at the beginning of this story, be glad you kept scrolling as this Frankie Shop miniskirt is the perfect companion to your new waist fastener. I love the idea of styling a louder garment like this mini with classic basics, like a trench, poplin shirt, and flats.
You heard it here first! Hidden waists are out, emphasized ones are in. Get with the program without spending your entire paycheck thanks to this hourglass-inspired minidress from Zara, which just so happens to also come in 2023’s favorite color.
Good American just launched a ton of new faux-leather pieces, each one more buy-worthy than the next. This midi dress, in particular, is the perfect going-out option for spring, when it’s too early in the season for a sundress and too late for anything with sleeves.
Staud’s spring collection just dropped and even with all the gorgeous, colorful pieces included in it, my eyes went straight for this off-the-shoulder white top with a fitted waist. It looks outrageously expensive and can be styled seamlessly with all the jeans, trousers, and slip skirts that already live in your closet—guaranteed.
I’ve never been one to play by the no-white-after-Labor-Day fashion rule, so when I saw this slightly early white maxi skirt at Pixie Market, you know I added it straight into my shopping cart. Specifically I’m looking forward to styling it with the above Staud top for a monochrome-white look that sartorial traditionalists are bound to scoff at.
Mere hours ago, Zara dropped a boatload of denim onto its site and as a proud app user and mega fan, I began shopping all of it in a matter of minutes. This pair of palazzo-style jeans has me especially excited, and not just because they only cost $60.
I have the red, velvet version of this peplum jacket already, but for spring, I have my sights set on this white, satin option. For one, peplum silhouettes are all I can think about now that fresh-feeling takes are entering the chat. More than that, though, I just find this lady jacket to be the epitome of everything I want to wear on a daily basis.
Red might be the frontrunner colorwise in 2023, but if the above orange heels from Reformation and this baby-soft tee from J.Crew tell us anything about the color-wheel hierarchy right now, it’s that tangerine is a close second.
I’m convinced I saved the best item of all for last. For such a simple pair of flats, these ballerinas combine so many of today’s top trends in one, $199 purchase.
