Becca Millstein has made a real name for herself in the culinary industry. As the founder and CEO of Fishwife, Millstein has built a woman-founded and led company aiming to make ethically-sourced, premium tinned seafood an essential in every kitchen. In addition to seriously tasty recipes, the brand’s joyful and vibrant design make the products all the more fun to engage with. Available online, at specialty grocers, and national distributors like Whole Foods, Fishwife is bringing specialty conservas—and the culture surrounding it—to tables all over the country.

Since launching in December 2020, Millstein has evolved the product range to include an assortment of smoked rainbow trout, albacore tuna, Atlantic salmon, and, most recently, Cantabrian anchovies, sourcing exclusively from responsibly managed fisheries and aquaculture farms. Fishwife has garnered attention from some of the most esteemed publications like Food & Wine, The New York Times, and Vanity Fair, further cementing the brand’s place in food culture.

It may come as a surprise that before Millstein was leading a cultural food movement, she actually worked in entertainment. After starting her career at the talent agency ICM Partners, she landed a marketing role at Atlantic Records, specializing in music brand partnerships and artist marketing. Listen to the latest episode of Second Life to hear how Millstein navigated a major career pivot and is now at the helm of a burgeoning tinned food empire.
