If October has ever rolled around with you wishing you’d ordered that now sold-out fall item that was in stock in August, I’m here to help you change the script (or at least plant a seed). I know that feeling of mild regret quite well. I know it’s hard to get in a fall headspace when it’s 100°F outside, but I promise you’ll thank yourself in October.

This past spring, I wrote about those must-have items that always seem to sell out year after year. It was fun and hopefully helpful, so I’m doing it again for fall. History tends to repeat itself, especially when it comes to popular fashion items, and certain items have a proven track record.

The nine always-popular items below have been so in demand the past few fall seasons that I’m 100% sure they’ll sell out again this year. If these highly coveted pieces are on your fall wish list, take my advice and shop them early while they’re still well stocked in every size and color. Keep scrolling to be the early bird that gets the worm and shop them before everyone else.

If you have your eye on Toteme’s felt jacket with the scarf attached (which basically started a whole trend), I’m just here to remind you that for the last couple of years it’s literally flown out of stock as the first sign of a chill in the air. You’ve been warned.

Even thought they’ve been around for years, Birkenstock Boston Clogs are an It item yet again. Last fall, people were searching high and low for a pair and I expect the same to occur this year as the Birkenstock craze is still going strong.

I think all that have tried them would agree that Wolford makes the best bodysuits on the planet. They’re the ultimate investment basic which is why their popularity has remained at a fever pitch.

When people start wearing jeans again post-summer heat, it’s often Agolde in-the-know women turn to. They have the best selection of forward and classic styles on the market.

Not only is Reformation’s cashmere great quality for the price point, its styles are incredibly cool and on-trend (as per usual with Ref). Don’t be surprised when popular styles start to disappear from stock as soon as people start to prep their wardrobes for fall.

Whether or not Western boots are trending during a given season, Khaite Dallas boots are so subtle and chic that it doesn’t matter. They were so difficult to come by last fall that I had to scour Vestiaire Collective for my size.

There are far newer luxury bags on the market, but the unique shape, timelessness, and perfect size of this quiet luxury mainstay bag make it a perpetual hot commodity. When summer comes to a close and the raffia bags are put away, people will be shopping for something more substantial—like The Row’s Half-Moon Bag.

You probably don’t need reminding about the craze that is Ugg Ultra-Mini Boots. Once the holidays start approaching, finding these boots is always a frenzy (that you’d be wise to avoid by purchasing a pair now).

If you see a cute striped sweater on your Instagram or TikTok feed in the fall, there’s a good chance it’s Mango (and far less than $100). They’re just really good at striped sweaters, and the frequent sell-outs reflect that.
