What does it mean to treat yourself as though you are truly special? When caught up in the stress of daily demands, it can be easy to forget. But for a few hours on a frigid winter night, a lucky crop of Toronto beauty enthusiasts were encouraged to stop and feel genuinely rare.

Celebrating the launch of Clarins’ Precious skincare, FASHION gathered a group of exceptionally outfitted Torontonians on January 18. Dressed in gold and black, 60+ guests were happily removed from the blustery weather as they met at Ultra Super Club, a glamorous venue dripping with avant-garde Alexander McQueen-inspired decor.

The gilded interior — filled with gold drapes, chain-link chandeliers and warmly-lit ambience — may not be the obvious environment for a night about science-driven beauty products. But as it turns out, it served as the perfect backdrop to toast to this particular skincare innovation.

While circling the room, revellers were treated to Pan-Asian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, elevated cocktails and an up-close look at the Clarins Precious product line. Enveloped in reflective luxe packaging, the collection spans tools and topicals, from La Lotion — a refreshing regimen prelude, to La Crème — a restorative cream so luxurious it has been described as being like a cashmere blanket for the face.

But the real, unmatched magic — as a Clarins beauty specialist explained to the crowd — happens when everything is used together. Its secret ingredient? The Moonlight flower, a plant native to the forests of Central America. True to its mystical name, the flower blooms but once a year at night, making it incredibly rare.

As such, it was an evening about relishing in the extraordinary, and fashion played an important part. The soirée saw a sea of dazzling style choices, from golden knee-high boots to lush leather separates. The best part? Each ensemble met the dress code requirements while shining in its own, individual way.

Through it all, time seemed to stand still at this brilliant bash, as guests embraced their individuality and indulged in the world’s natural treasures. It served as a reminder that we’re all rare — and that’s worth celebrating.
