Hyperion, the world’s tallest tree in California’s Redwood National Park, is off-limits to protect its delicate ecosystem from visitor damage. Since its discovery in 2006, the area around the 380-foot coastal redwood has suffered from erosion, trampled vegetation, and litter. To prevent further harm, park officials have imposed fines up to $5,000 and potential jail time for those caught visiting the tree. This measure aims to preserve Hyperion and its surroundings for future generations.
