The euro area recorded a €15.5 ($16.28 billion) trade surplus in December 2024, down from €16.4 ($17.22 billion) in 2023.
Exports rose 3.1 per cent, while imports grew 3.8 per cent.
The EU’s surplus increased to €16.3 billion (~$17.12 billion).
For 2024, the euro area had a €176.9 billion (~$185.75 billion) surplus, while the EU’s was €150.1 billion (~$157.61 billion).
Intra-regional trade declined.
