The Drewry World Container Index dropped 3.34 per cent to $2,541 per FEU, reflecting weak global freight demand and rising shipping capacity.
Rates fell on major routes, with Shanghai to Los Angeles down 9 per cent and Shanghai to New York dropping 6 per cent.
Despite being 76 per cent below the 2021 peak, the index remains 79 per cent higher than pre-pandemic levels.
