Engineers in Australia, led by Dr Chamila Gunasekara from RMIT University, have developed a technique using waste carpet fibres to strengthen concrete and reduce early-age cracking by up to 30 per cent.
This innovation not only improves concrete durability but also addresses the environmental challenge of textile waste, with field trials underway.
