The Bangladesh Jute Mills Association and the Bangladesh Jute Spinners Association recently threatened to close their mills from February 1 unless effective steps are taken against raw-jute hoarding and a steady supply of raw materials is ensured.
Since the end of fiscal 2024-25, normal production at jute mills has been seriously disrupted due to an acute shortage of raw jute, the associations said.
