China’s cotton production rose 9.7 per cent to 6.164 million tonnes in 2024, driven by a 1.8 per cent expansion in planting area and a 7.8 per cent rise in yield efficiency.
Xinjiang, the top-producing region, boosted its planting area by 3.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, planting areas in the Yangtze and Yellow River basins dropped by 1.6 per cent and 13.6 per cent, respectively.
