The Drewry World Container Index fell 10.63 per cent to $3,445 per FEU on 23 January 2025, reflecting global shipping freight trends.
Rates dropped ahead of Chinese Lunar New Year, with Shanghai routes seeing reductions of 7–19 per cent.
The index remains 67 per cent below its 2021 peak but is 143 per cent above 2019 levels.
Spot rates are expected to decline further.
