Euro area annual inflation down to 2.2% in Aug; EU rate 2.4%

The euro area annual inflation rate was 2.2 per cent in August, down from July’s 2.6 per cent; a year earlier, it was 5.2 per cent. EU annual inflation was 2.4 per cent in August, down from 2.8 per cent in July; the rate was 5.9 per cent a year earlier.
Compared with July, annual inflation in August fell in 20 member states, was stable in one and rose in six
