It’s no secret to anyone in my life that I spend a lot of my free time scrolling Instagram. My roommate and I are constantly sending Instagram posts back and forth even when we’re sitting two feet away from each other on the couch (sadly). I follow tons of beauty-centric accounts , and I use the “save” feature liberally to bookmark some of my favorite beauty ideas for inspiration.
I would typically never share my Saved Instagram posts, but I realized that some of my recent saves look like a beauty mood board for spring. It’s obvious that I’m itching to try these trends myself, and now, you can try them too. Keep scrolling for my favorite spring beauty inspirations.
Last year, we were all about brown fox eyes, and before that, black cat eyes had a vice grip on us for many years. This year, make room for metallic liner, which helps bring all of the focus to your eyes. You can go for metal-inspired shades like silver or gold, or opt for a more colorful take by choosing bright shades with hints of metal.
This year, the best manicures play with negative space. You can do whatever you want with design, but leaving some naked nail will make you look polished. Go for a base formula that helps blur any imperfections or discolorations (think of it like BB cream for your nails).
In 2021, claw clips reigned supreme in the world of hair accessories. So far this year, they’re still going strong, but there’s a key difference: We’re starting to see more fun versions of the classic clip. Think glitter, confetti, bold patterns, and more. These accessories are no longer just practical; they’re a sophisticated addition to any look.
Bold lips are back, baby! Pull out all the stops for this season’s lipstick craze. The more color and gloss, the better.
Yes, skincare devices have been having a moment for a while now, but if you haven’t been convinced to buy one already, now is really the time to take the plunge. Devices like the cult-favorite NuFace help brighten, firm, plump, and tighten skin much better than any anti-aging cream can. You’ll get facial-quality results from the comfort of home.
Pastel nail polish is going to have a major moment this spring. Sunny yellows, mint greens, and creamsicle oranges will take center stage. These colors are perfect to inject a little brightness into your everyday life.
Ariana Grande who? This hairstyle is great for a few reasons: A) It is Euphoria-esque, B) it’s an easy fix for a “meh” hair day, and C) it’s fun and versatile.
One more time for the people in the back: I’m obsessed with jelly nails, which you may have picked up from my article all about them. Jelly nails are going to be huge this spring, and you should jump on the trend before everyone else does.
Pantone’s color of the year, Very Peri, is the perfect springtime color to start incorporating in everything from manicures to makeup. It’s even more alluring once you know the meaning behind the shade. Pantone’s website says Very Peri “helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives. Rekindling gratitude for some of the qualities that blue represents complemented by a new perspective that resonates today, Very Peri places the future ahead in a new light.” How can you say no to that?
This year is all about using hair accessories liberally. Put clips all over your hair to draw attention to your face. Have fun with it—the more, the better, and fun colors are your friends here.
Chanel’s new Nº1 line took off on Instagram and for good reason. While a new Chanel beauty launch is always exciting, this one was particularly powerful because of the brand’s focus on sustainability. The line features products made of naturally derived ingredients, sustainable and re-usable packaging, organic ink, and QR codes instead of a traditional information leaflet. Sustainable beauty is going to keep gaining momentum this year, hopefully following in Chanel’s footsteps.
We haven’t seen the last of retro makeup looks just yet. Sixties makeup is going to continue to trend this spring, but a more muted take like this one is a little bit easier to wear on normal occasions.
