If you’re a regular Who What Wear reader, it’ll come as no surprise that we love Kendall Jenner’s style . Whether she’s draped in crystals on the steps of the Met or donning jeans and a leather jacket during Paris Fashion Week , by our standards, the supermodel rarely misses in the fashion department. So, when she released her summer edit at FWRD , the luxury retailer where Kendall is the creative director, it was second nature for us to devour it from start to finish. But, in order to explore Kendall’s summer style selects in full, I took things to the next level and took a few of my favorites from her list for a test drive.
That’s right—for three days last week, I got the chance to walk in Kendall’s shoes. Well, not technically her shoes, but the shoes (and more) she’s planning on wearing all summer long. From swimwear to handbags, the pieces featured ahead have all gotten Kendall’s stamp of approval—and mine too. See how I styled them for the season ahead, below.
I literally never wear color, so when I saw that Kendall was going all-in for the dopamine-dressing trend for summer, I knew it’d be a challenge for me to pull off. Then again, if I’m going to go outside of my comfort zone, I might as well follow the supermodel’s lead. One of the more colorful looks from her summer edit included a hot pink bikini from The Attico, paired with royal blue Bottega Veneta sandals, a tangerine-colored Jacquemus bag, and an orange Versace top. But since I was headed to the office in the look, rather than the beach, I slightly switched the look up to make it more SFW, wearing the T-shirt–style swimsuit top with a high-waisted, midi-length orange skirt from Christopher Esber. Surprisingly, the vibrant hues and clashing colors weren’t scary in the slightest. Rather, the look’s eye-catching palette has me rethinking my no-color rule entirely.
I love that this bikini top doubles as a cool shirt, giving you way more bang for your buck.
Though these are tall, I was shocked to discover how comfortable they were. Bottega Veneta, you did good.
The number of compliments I got while carrying this bag was next-level.
This skirt will make anything you’re wearing look 10x cooler this summer.
This look from Kendall’s edit was fun to play with, as it really only included a Balenciaga T-shirt bra and thong, the brand’s white Hourglass mini bag, and Gia Borghini wedges. It was on me to turn the beachside ensemble into something appropriate for a day spent walking around NYC. Keeping with Kendall’s low-key, cool style, I paired the bralette with a sand-colored poplin button-down from Lemaire, which I threw casually over my shoulders. From there, I added Khaite’s Danielle jeans—a favorite of Kendall’s—and light-brown sunglasses from The Attico which also made it into the model’s edit. I’m very much the type to want fashion to be easy, at least for the most part. Dressing up and playing with clothes and accessories is fun, but when it comes to everyday styling, I like my outfits to come together seamlessly. Because of that, this look is a definite yes for me. Effortless yet elevated, the combo can easily be worn from day to night with a few simple tweaks.
This button-down feels ridiculously nice. Unlike most Oxford shirts, this one has an almost nylon-like feel to it that allows it to feel breezy and lightweight even when it’s extremely hot out.
There’s a reason why so many celebrities and fashion girls—including Kendall Jenner—love these Khaite jeans. The rise, fit, and overall style are impeccable.
Anytime you can turn your undergarments into overgarments, thus giving them more purpose, I say go for it. Shop the matching Ribbed Thong ($250).
If you’re in the market for a comfortable and trendy heeled sandal, give these a whirl. The upper straps are padded, which, paired with the wedge heels, makes these a perfect pick for all your summer-walking needs, no matter how strenuous.
This bag is downright cool. There’s simply no argument against it.
After studying Kendall’s edit for summer and actually trying out a ton of its contents, I’ve come to the conclusion that her mentality for the season is “go big or go home.” And no outfit from the accompanying campaign showcases that more than this one by Maximilian Davis, who doubles as the new creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo. The look includes a cherry-red monokini with almost no back and a cutout in the center, which Kendall styled with a pair of matching leather-and-nylon trousers that feel (and sound) like a super-luxury garbage bag (in a cool way). Clearly, with a look this striking, I needed a shoe that matched the vibe, so of course, I chose Balenciaga’s latest viral boots: the Cagoles. The style, which features a dramatic pointed toe, leather tassels, and metal studs, are arguably the buzziest item in fashion at the moment, rivaling only Coperni’s glass bag and Miu Miu’s micro miniskirt. That’s all to say, this was one of the cooler outfits I’ve worn in my 26 years. Then again, that’s not surprising given that Kendall Jenner basically picked it out.
This suit is proof that monokinis are back for summer 2022.
Are these pants practical? Maybe not. Are they insanely cool. Absolutely.
These boots are the moment, period.
Kendall Jenner is the queen of elevated basics, so if she’s calling out this one as one of the greats, you know it’s good.
Baby pink is having a major moment right now. Shop the matching Twist Midi Skirt ($295).
It’s a need, not a want.
I actually own this top, and I’ll vouch for it 365 days a year.
The epitome of class.
Hot Girl Summer awaits. Shop the matching Rouge Mini Skirt ($550).
I love that this skirt gives the appearance of being sheer without all the fuss of actually wearing a see-through garment.
Sporty Spice vibes.
I’m in love with this color of shoes.
Sorry, I’m OOO on summer vacation.
The summer version of Khaite’s viral cashmere bralette.
That slit, though.
