In every single one of my friend groups, I’m the fashion friend—the one you text when you have a date in 20 minutes and you don’t know what to wear or when you need someone to FaceTime in the fitting room for a second opinion. I’ve spent years sending my friends links to outfits, trends, and red carpet looks, but nothing prepared them for a selfie from my first-ever camping trip. When I spend time outdoors, I’m usually walking in the city to my favorite shops or sitting under palm trees at the beach. But when Timberland and Hike Clerb team up for a weekend upstate to celebrate the iconic brand’s 50th anniversary, it’s impossible to say no.
Hike Clerb is an intersectional women’s outdoors collective whose mission is to aid in the healing of Black, Indigenous women of color by giving them the tools, education, resources, and experiences they need to immerse themselves in nature. It goes without saying that this is a cause I fully support, so I traded my kitten heels for hiking boots and headed to the Catskill Mountains despite everyone’s shock and doubt that I could survive in the wilderness. For 72 hours, I bonded with everyone over campfires, farm-to-table dinners, and tie-dye sessions while testing the new Timberland GreenStride Motion 6 Hiker and other outdoor pieces from the brand’s Venture Out collection. I couldn’t go camping for the first time without letting you guys in on the 30 core pieces that kept me stylish. Keep scrolling for the details.
