Despite a 26 per cent increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for jute over the past five years, India’s jute production declined to 84.33 lakh bales in 2024–25 from 92.52 lakh bales the previous year.
MSP has steadily risen from ₹4,225 (~$49.34) in 2020–21 to ₹5,650 for 2025–26, but production remains volatile.
Mesta production also fluctuated, dropping to 3.15 lakh bales in 2024–25.
