Indonesia has extended safeguard tariffs on imports of textiles, carpets and other fabric coverings for three more years to protect and improve the competitiveness of its struggling textile industry.
The sector’s workforce fell from 3.98 million in 2023 to 3.87 million this year.
Added to the problem is the influx of textiles from abroad, particularly China.
