If you want to wear sweatpants outside but you also want to look like you tried, this is for you. The always directional Irina Shayk was out walking in NYC this week, as she often is, wearing a look that’s likely to set an outfit trend. It included a velour Skims outfit which consisted of a pair of joggers that one might just automatically think to pair with sneakers. But not Irina Shayk. She did the unexpected and instead chose a pair of knee-high boots, and I have to say, it works.
For the most streamlined look, the trick is to choose a pair of sweatpants that are on the slim side, and a pair of boots that are in the same color family as the sweats and have a wide shaft. You could dress it up with a blazer or down with a hoodie or sweater—whatever the vibe you’re going for (and sorry to sound cliché here), the best thing you can do is wear the unexpected outfit combination with confidence and relish in the fact that you’re so much more comfortable than all of the people wearing jeans with their knee boots.
