Japan has approved the Seventh Strategic Energy Plan and an updated industrial policy, apart from setting new targets to cut GHG emissions till 2040.
The aim is to reduce emissions by 60 per cent from 2013 levels by 2035 and by 73 per cent by 2040.
The industrial policy aims at developing industrial clusters in areas rich in renewable energy, nuclear power and other low-carbon power sources.
