In August, Japan’s clothing and accessories imports declined by 8.1 per cent, totalling 348,002 million yen.
Imports of textile yarn and fabric also fell by 5.7 per cent.
However, exports of textile yarn and fabric rose by 9.2 per cent, while textile machinery exports dropped by 9.5 per cent.
During H1 FY25, clothing imports increased by 6.9 per cent, but yarn and fabric imports fell 1.3 per cent.
