Japan’s clothing and accessories imports fell 0.8 per cent to ¥347.17 billion (~$2.37 billion) in August 2025, reflecting weaker consumer demand and cautious retail spending.
Textile yarn and fabric imports dropped 4.4 per cent, while exports of yarn, fabric, and machinery also declined amid global trade uncertainty and US tariffs.
However, H1 2025 saw growth in imports and machinery exports.
