Ever since moving to New York and becoming a full-time fashion editor, there’s been a few staple brands I rely on time and time again to make sure my new seasonally-appropriate wardrobe is chic enough for my new lifestyle (without costing me an arm and a leg). At the top of my list, you ask? Madewell.
As the younger, cooler sister to J.Crew, Madewell’s slew of trendier classics are usually calling my name year ’round as a Gen Z-editor. But, let’s be honest: the retailer especially shines come fall.
After taking a sneak peak at Madewell’s Fall 2023 collection earlier this summer, I’ve been anxiously counting down the days until it arrives on the website and I have to (figuratively) fight to the death to get the pieces I want, knowing full and well that after TikTok gets ahold of them, they’ll be sure to sell out.
While the majority of the collection’s color palette serves as the perfect backdrop for apple picking or cider donut-hunting filled with muted reds, mochas, greens and oranges, autumnal silhouettes like cardigans, leather jackets, and straight-leg jeans are where Madewell really finds its stride. I’m telling the truth when I say the minute I stepped to the office and showed the Who What Wear editors the pictures I took from the fall sneak peak, we all collectively decided, yep, Madewell has never looked better than this.
