My current coat storage solution is on the smaller side, so I haven’t purchased new outerwear during the last few fall and winter seasons. (It took a lot of resistance.) However, my new apartment shockingly provides me with a separate coat closet. That means I’m preparing to shop for new coats as brands begin to reveal their fall outerwear offerings. From floor-length styles made of wool and leather to insulated puffers ideal for walking in frigid temperatures, I want my coat collection to check off every box.

The market isn’t currently overloaded with outerwear, but I like to shop early because I can find popular styles fully in stock. (I do the same thing with boots by purchasing Uggs in the summer.) It also takes a bit for the weather to fully change, so I’m prioritizing transitional styles that can get a ton of wear during those weird in-between weather days.

Simply perfect.

This is the kind of jacket I could center my entire fall and winter wardrobe around.

I predict this jacket will sell out fast.

The fact that this coat is still in stock is a sign that you need to buy it—fast.

COS makes the best basics at the best prices.

This coat will look equally as good with legging post-Pilates as it will with jeans and a knit top.

I love an oversize cocoon-like fit.

This jacket works for both luxury and casual outfits.

I have zero regrets about adding this coat to my wardrobe.

Mango’s premium pieces are always next level, and this coat is proof.

This color is so good.

A hard price to beat for this kind of leather jacket.

Puffy perfection.

A much chicer alternative to a standard denim jacket.

While I love my moto jackets, I think I’ll get more wear out of this leather sillhouette.

A classic no-fuss option.

I want to wrap myself up in this coat from now until spring.

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t want this jacket.

This coat is Hailey Bieber-approved. In fact, she designed it.
