A 2023 study on the Indian population revealed the existence of a condition called prediabetes. Prediabetes serves as a warning for increased diabetes risk and provides a recovery window for those at risk. It is defined as elevated blood sugar levels that are not yet classified as type 2 diabetes. Around 15.4% of the urban population and 15.2% of rural India are in the prediabetic stage, with approximately 136 million Indians affected. Identifying the mild symptoms of prediabetes is challenging as they are often asymptomatic.
