The khadi industry in India’s Assam state has witnessed substantial progress, creating over 5,000 jobs and achieving total sales worth ₹18.92 crore (~$2.25 million) last year, state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said.
He said more than 7,600 small entrepreneurs from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes have benefitted from the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme.
