Shopping inspiration, anyone? Well, nobody asked, but we’re certainly delivering anyways. With a dizzying number of new spring and summer pieces hitting the market, it can be downright intimidating to peruse what’s out there in the hopes of making a little wardrobe update. But that’s where we come in, friends. On a typical day, we’re doing some online browsing to highlight the very best shopping picks of the moment, but today, we’re taking it a step further by showing you what we’re personally adding to our closets and including some inspirational outfit photos .
No doubt, our editors are a stylish bunch—I personally look to their Instagrams for my own style ideas—so when I tell you these new tops, dresses, sunglasses, jewelry items, and bags are “it,” I think you’ll agree. From the $20 Zara bodysuit I might have to copy from Anneliese to the rising jewelry brand Bobby just put on my radar, keep scrolling for our new fashion favorites.
“I put this Zara top on this past weekend, and it was like summer officially commenced right in that second. I already know it will be something I wear all the time. And I mean, let’s just take a second and appreciate the price.”
“Honestly, I am so happy about adding these bold Cult Gaia sunglasses to my collection. They’re the perfect pop of color and look great with everything.”
“I’m so obsessed with this knit halter dress; it’s the perfect balance of cozy and chic.”
“I love vintage clothing but often find it won’t fit me, which is why I was ecstatic when I found out about Simply Retro. They have affordable, vintage-inspired pieces that aren’t tiny so that I can embrace cottagecore to the max without having to worry about busting through the seams.”
“Ever since I got this stunning gold choker necklace from Stella and Bow, I’ve been unable to take it off, It goes with everything, and I always get compliments when wearing it.”
“I pretty much steered clear from buying anything expensive last year, so I decided it was finally time to treat myself. I saw this on Maria Alia and immediately felt compelled to bookmark them. Tabi shoes, especially the boots, are really popular among my creative Brooklyn friends, so I’ve seen them quite a bit, but they just didn’t really click for me until that moment. I scooped them up before they sold out (they sell out often but periodically restock) and have started gradually wearing them outside when I want to feel more put-together.”
“I love a good jumpsuit, mostly because they’re easy to wear, always look cool, and can usually be dressed up or down. From the start, I wasn’t sold that this would fit me well, but I’m honestly so shocked that it does! Not only does it hug me in all the right places, but the length is absolutely perfect. I still just can’t believe it was only $40. It looks way more expensive to me IRL.”
“I have a hard time finding sandals I truly love come summer, but this croc-embossed pair stole my heart immediately. They are comfortable and on-trend and will go with all my warm-weather outfits. I’m confident I’ll get my cost-per-wear out of these, so they’re a worthy investment in my eyes.”
“This was a ‘love at first sight’ sort of purchase. I’m having a major moment with knit and crochet pieces, so obviously, this had to join my closet. I think it’s the ultimate layering piece for summer in L.A., and I love the fact that it’s giving me major Bode vibes.”
“I saw my co-worker wearing this during a Zoom meeting and knew I needed it ASAP. The color is what stole my heart.”
“NYC-based creative Darren Graham recently launched his affordable jewelry line, Sheekss. The rings are so beautiful and special. I love stacking them for a statement look.”
“These new Ray-Ban sunnies are turning out to be one of my staples for the season. I’m into the classic yet modern feel.”
I’m not sure how I ever lived without a really great trench coat in my life, but now that I’ve acquired one, my wardrobe is much better for it. This one is made from a soft and slinky twill, so it feels a tad more polished than a traditional trench topper. It’s been the perfect layering piece atop everything from jeans to dresses while I navigate this in-between weather in NYC.
The shape of this bag is so unique and reminds me of the pencil cases I used to carry around in middle school.
Inspired by Aphrodite—the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and gracefulness—this stunning signet ring embodies that effortlessly cool, carefree energy I’m trying to capture these days.
“Say hello to my new favorite shirt. The cropped, boxy fit is so good, and I love the big gold buttons and shoulder pads. It’s a bit ’80s, but not in a costumey way at all. Well done, Ganni.”
“I can’t get over how adorable this little Mango bag is. It’s obviously not the bag you want to carry when you need to schlep a lot of stuff, but otherwise, it’s the perfect summer bag for when you want to add a dose of fun to your outfit.”
“I recently realized that I did not even so much as put on a swimsuit in 2020. My goal is to change that this year, so I’m starting with this beautiful, sparkly Oseree bikini. If you’d asked 8-year-old me to describe my dream swimsuit, it would’ve been this, and I could say the same about 36-year-old me.”
“I love a good stylish bag, and this scrunch one from our collection at Nordstrom has been something I’ve been wearing quite a bit lately. It’s in this terracotta shade that acts as a neutral for me, and it fits just everything I’d need for an outing.”
“Levi’s makes my favorite jeans of all time (they just fit so well!), so this wide-leg pair has been a perfect addition to my closet. They’re such good quality and hold their shape well. I know I’ll be getting plenty of wear out of them this spring.”
“I’m obsessed with the new brand Larroudé. Founded by Marina Larroudé, a former fashion director at Barneys, Teen Vogue, and Style.com, (and, in my opinion, one of the best-dressed women in NYC), this line amalgamates the trend-savvy fashion-girl aesthetic with classic staples and high-quality craftsmanship to create unbelievably comfortable footwear. My first piece from the collection is a pair of pointy-toe flats. Named after style icon Lee Radziwill (Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s younger sister), these shoes are the perfect way to ease back into office-appropriate attire after a year spent in sneakers and Birkenstocks.”
“It’s been consistently warm in L.A. the past few weeks, so I’ve finally started to stock up on summer basics. First up, a new pair of slightly longer denim shorts because I officially feel too grown-up for super-short pairs, a not-so-basic white tee (peep the drawstring ties), and fresh white sporty sneakers I’ll inevitably wear at least four days a week.”
“This cotton top is not your average basic tee. It immediately caught my eye because of those cool drawstring ties, but the cropped fit is also ideal for all of the high-waist bottoms I already own.”
“A fresh, white pair of sneakers is always on my spring/summer wish list. I may or may not have bought this sporty pair from Nike after seeing them on Hailey Bieber regularly.”
“Now that I’m in my late 20s, I try to steer clear of too-short shorts. My latest buy is a longer version of my previous go-to pair, and I couldn’t love the fit or length more.”
