The boot trend we’re about to dive into is nothing new. In fact, it’s quite a classic: knee-high boots. While knee-high boots come in many colorways and varieties, it’s black knee-high boots, in particular, that fashion girls are taking a liking to this season, and so far, they are only styling them one way. Instead of pairing the boot trend with skinny jeans, tights, or lengthier hemlines, they are taking things to the next level and styling the shoes with completely bare legs.

Instagram has proven that this season, knee-high boots are destined for bare legs and bare legs only, and we have the outfit photos to prove it, from minidresses to short shorts. Ahead, scroll through some of my current favorite looks featuring the new bare-legs-and-knee-high-boots combination, and shop some of the best knee-high boots on the market.

Style Tip: Layer an oversize leather jacket over a crisp shirtdress and pair with chunky lug-sole knee-high boots.

Style Tip: If you’re lucky enough to be in a warmer climate (Los Angeles, I’m looking at you), try a look consisting of a cool T-shirt, black shorts, and, you guessed it, knee-high boots.

Style Tip: Update your go-to blazer by layering it over a minidress and finishing the look with Western-inspired knee-high boots. Additionally, belting the blazer helps to add some more shape to the overall look.

Style Tip: Dress up your favorite loungewear look with a leather blazer and wide-shaft knee-high boots.

Style Tip: If you need any further proof that knee-high boots look good with short hemlines, let this look take the wheel.

Style Tip: Go for a “Kate Moss at Glastonbury” look by pairing knee-high flat boots with a short floral dress and a rain jacket.

Style Tip: Instead of always opting for heels (pumps or sandals) for a more elevated look, opt for sleek knee-high boots instead.

Style Tip: If you live in a climate that allows for shorts and thin knits even in the midst of winter, copy this outfit immediately. I promise the knee-high boots make the look read winter-appropriate.

Style Tip: Make any simple jacket feel 10 times trendier with a basic shift dress and chunky knee-high boots.

Style Tip: Now this is how to make a trench coat look cool. Pull out your best LBD and knee-high boots, and you’ve got yourself a chic, timeless outfit.
