Trust Me—Buy This is a series where our market editor Nicole Eshaghpour makes her favorite real-life fashion finds shoppable for Who What Wear readers.
Hello and welcome back to my latest Trust Me—Buy This roundup! In case you’re new here or forgot what this is all about, today, I’ll be sharing my go-to items of the moment with more of a personal spin than your usual shopping story. With a little help from my fashion-focused Instagram account, @trustmebuythis , where I post my own (mediocre) snaps of items I’m into, I get to both show and tell you what I’m actually wearing in real time. These special selects are the pieces I’ve been loving not only online but also IRL.
This time around, you can expect my usual mix of basics, standout pieces, and the occasional wild card. From knits in all forms to jeans, sneakers, and my favorite boots for the season, just keep scrolling to shop 23 of my favorite finds for wearing right now and to see how I styled each along the way.
In early fall, I was living in this exact outfit as is. Now, I’m still wearing it just as much but with a few more layers added. The sweater-vest is so soft, comfortable, and easy to wear over or under anything. These boots and I are on our third fall together now, and I love them as much now as I did then because they’re the perfect combination of practical and polished. Lastly, these Wandler jeans really have lived up to the hype, and if you’re looking for something not too high (waisted), not too low, and extremely comfortable, this style is for you.
While my affinity for cropped sweaters is going nowhere, I’ve also been loving longer and looser styles paired with slightly baggier bottoms. This combo of the Almina Concept sweater and Rails jeans has been serving me quite well lately.
I recently bought both of these non-basic basics for fall, and I’m so glad I did. While the bag is a somewhat atypical shape, it’s still very classic, and I can see myself wearing it for years to come. With Western boots back in the spotlight (again), I decided to invest in this pair from Khaite because of the perfect heel height, subtle detailing, and overall special feel. I’ve been using both more than I even imagined.
The only thing better than a matching set is a cozy-but-luxe knit version that you can totally wear out and look put-together without anyone suspecting that you feel as though you’re in pajamas.
At the start of the pandemic, I naturally put a pause on my daily jewelry wearing, and it’s a routine I never really fell back into. However, upon getting these two necklaces, I’ve felt somewhat revived in that aspect, and it’s made me excited to throw on different pieces and experiment with layering again. Here, I’m wearing them with my favorite new T-shirt bodysuit and an Oak + Fort button-down that has been a layering wonder of different sorts lately.
I already had a thing for shackets, but throw on a built-in belt, and I’m obsessed. That’s why I’ve been living in this piece from Aritzia, paired here with my go-to Agolde jeans and a trusty pair of expensive-looking but affordable Zara boots.
If you couldn’t already tell from what you’ve seen in this roundup, I neither buy nor wear a lot of color. However, a fun fact about me is that I will almost always make an exception for the right piece in the right shade of green. That’s how this ultra-soft, boxy-fitting green henley sweater stole my heart. No, it’s not beige, white, or black, but it’s as easy to match with other pieces as any of those neutrals and simply sparks joy whenever I see or wear it.
This knit coat is another piece from last fall that I brought back for this season and have been wearing so much. It literally feels like you’re walking around wrapped in your favorite blanket but looks like you’re wearing a cool and unique cardi-coat—and yes, I made that word up.
Last but not least, this is the outfit I’ve worn more times than I’d like to admit in the last few weeks. The coat is ideal for fall thanks to its weight and hood, and I love the utility-inspired details and polished feel. Contrastingly, the jeans and sneakers bring a more chill feel, but the whole thing comes together in the perfect casual and comfortable look for running around all day in.
Next: I’m a picky shopper, and this is what I’d buy from Nordstrom for winter .
