BASF is expanding its US production of 99.999 per cent ultra-pure isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in 2027 to support advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
As chips shrink to nanometre scale, they require ultra-pure IPA to avoid defects.
Unlike standard 99.9 per cent IPA, this high-purity version prevents damage to delicate microchip circuitry during cleaning and drying processes.
