We’re always down for shopping tips and styling advice from over-50 influencers Janet Gunn and Melissa Meyers. Of course, age has legit nothing to do with what you should or shouldn’t wear, but their fashion point of view always piques our interest given their time over the years editing and curating their wardrobes. And given that the duo has both spent decades juggling various careers and their children, they’re used to being busy and having to run around while maintaining their day-to-day.

So on that note, we thought it could be intriguing to learn about the specific shoe styles they’ve consistently relied on that are not only comfortable to get through long days, but also happen to be chic too. With that in mind, Gunn and Meyers shared with us their go-tos below, along with inspiration images as well. Keep scrolling for more, and shop picks for each category too if one of the comfortable shoe silhouettes catches your eye.

“Boots always help us put our best foot forward whether we are wearing skirts or pants—our go-to footwear from fall through winter. Classic black and flat are always must-haves, as is a western-boot style or a pair with a chunky heel or sole.” On Gunn: Angela Scott boots

“Fashion meets function when you wear a classic pair of Birkenstocks, especially when paired with a nice pant or skirt.” On Meyers: Birkenstock sandals

“Comfort meets style with this timeless classic! Whether worn flat or with a block heel to get a bit of extra height, is there anything that a loafer can’t be worn with? We think not.”  On Gunn: Birdies loafers

“Easy to slide on and off, this style is always in fashion whether you like an open or closed-toe. We have been living in ours.”  On Meyers: Roam slides

“The comfiest shoe to wear when sneaking around town. We like to throw on a stylish pair with cropped jeans, long dresses, and skirts.”  On Gunn: Alexander McQueen Sneakers

“A powerful footwear style. I love a classic oxford or derby style that exudes confidence and strength.” On Gunn: Angela Scott oxfords

“A great basic, these go with everything in your wardrobe, either as a flat for extreme comfort or with a lower heel. We like to wear this style with a low heel and in fun animal prints.”  On Meyers: Loeffler Randall mules
