The latest COVID-19 variant, which is a subvariant of Omicron’s XBB subvariant (a combination of BA.2.75 and BA.2.10.1.), was first detected in 2022. Currently, it has become a dominant strain in the United States. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the new sub-variant has spread to at least 37 countries and is considered to be the most-transmissible variant so far.
