The Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association has again urged authorities to reconsider the new tariff schedule for the Chittagong Port.
Terming the proposed rate hike ‘unprecedented’ and ‘commercially unsustainable’, it requested that the hike be limited to 10-15 per cent and implemented in phases, with at least six to 12 months’ notice.
It feels the hike reflects a rise of 70 per cent over existing rates.
