CITI has welcomed the GST rationalisation to 5 per cent and 18 per cent slabs, calling it a progressive step.
It urged a uniform 5 per cent rate across cotton, MMF, and machinery to remove IDS, ease capital strain, and boost competitiveness.
Other demands include abolition of ITC-04 filing for hosiery, and raising the apparel GST threshold from ₹1,000 (~$11.34) to ₹10,000 (~$113.39).
