The European Parliament last week rejected the mandate adopted by its legal affairs committee this month on simplified rules for sustainability reporting and due diligence obligations for companies operating within the EU by 309 votes in favour, 318 against and with 34 abstentions.
It will decide its position ahead of talks with EU governments at the next plenary session on November 13.
