The global maritime trade fleet hit $1.37 trillion in value last year, with the top 10 ship-owning countries accounting for two-thirds of that, says a report by the Turkish Ports Operators Association.
An examination of vessels of 100 gross tonnes and above by flag registry revealed Liberia leads, followed by Panama and the Marshall Islands.
Among ship-owning nations, Greece holds the largest share.
