India has extended its duty-free cotton import window until December 31, 2025, to ease pressure on the textile and garment sector after the US imposed a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods.
The move, however, faces stiff resistance from farmers, with Samyukt Kisan Morcha calling the duty removal a “death blow” to 60 lakh cotton-farming households.
