South Africa’s imports of textiles and textile articles fell 5.6 per cent year on year to 20.36 billion rand in January-April 2026, while exports remained largely stable at 8.01 billion rand.
The country continues to rely heavily on textile imports from Asian suppliers due to structural challenges and limited manufacturing competitiveness.
