UK retail sales rose 2.3 per cent year-on-year in September, up from 2 per cent in 2024 and above the 12-month average of 2.1 per cent, according to the BRC.
Non-food sales grew 0.7 per cent, with in-store sales up 0.5 per cent and online 1 per cent.
BRC’s Helen Dickinson noted cautious consumer spending amid inflation and budget uncertainty, despite strong electrical sales.
