The US has assured Bangladesh of considering further reduction in the 20-per cent retaliatory tariff on imports if the bilateral trade deficit continues to narrow.
The trade gap has already dropped to around $6 billion, commerce adviser SK Bashir Uddin said after talks with a US delegation.
A draft trade pact has been prepared and it will be revised and finalised once consensus is reached.
