US retail sales have surged in December, pushing 2025 holiday spending growth to 4.1 per cent and broadly matching National Retail Federation forecasts for record sales above $1 trillion.
Strong month-on-month gains, helped by Cyber Monday falling in December, lifted full-year retail sales growth to 4.93 per cent.
Clothing and general merchandise led gains, while furnishing sales lagged.
