President Donald Trump has indicated that the US may impose 20–25 per cent tariffs on Indian imports unless a trade deal is reached by August 1.
Citing high Indian tariffs, Trump warned of a broader 15–20 per cent ‘world tariff’ for countries without separate deals.
While US officials say talks need more time, India claims strong progress and interest in opening market access.
