A bipartisan Senate deal has been reached to fund the US government till January 30 in a move to end the 40-day Federal government shutdown.
The bill received exactly the 60 votes needed to advance, with almost all Republicans voting in favour along with eight Democrats.
The deal would include a reversal of the order to fire Federal employees and provisions to prevent any such measure in the future.
