US textile and apparel import volumes rose 2.54 per cent in Jan–Sept as domestic demand gradually recovered and retailers replenished inventories after earlier destocking.
Growth was led by non-apparel textiles, cotton, and man-made fibre products.
Exports eased slightly due to higher production costs and weaker competitiveness, widening the trade gap and reinforcing the US’ reliance on imports.
