The USTR has begun a probe to find out whether Brazil’s policies and practices in digital trade and e-payment; ‘unfair’, preferential tariffs; anti-corruption ‘interference’; IP protection; ethanol market access; and ‘illegal’ deforestation burden or restrict US commerce.
“Brazil’s tariff and non-tariff barriers merit a thorough investigation, and potentially, responsive action,” said USTR Jamieson Greer.
