OMV has started gas extraction from the Wittau well in Austria, the country’s biggest gas discovery in 40 years. The EUR 150 million (~$174.61mn) project will develop 11 terawatt-hours of gas, enough to heat around 100,000 homes for 10 years.
The project strengthens Austria’s energy security, supports local jobs, and could double OMV’s domestic gas production.
