The US would impose a 35-per cent tariff on imports from Canada, President Donald Trump has said.
In a letter released on Truth Social, he told Canadian PM Mark Carney the new rate would be effective from August 1 and would go up if Canada retaliated.
The reasons are Canada failing to cooperate and ‘unfair’ trade practices.
He is planning 15-20-per cent blanket tariffs on most other trade partners.
